Greetings!
I hope you have been able to make it to one of our recent events. The May lunch meeting was very informative with presentations by Jules Maas and the YMCA. The Chamber was one of the sponsors for the Veteran Happy Hour on the 18th. Military veterans were treated to a drink and appetizer as a sign of appreciation for all they have done for us. 61 people were in attendance.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming lunch meetings. June 10th, former Seahawk and Newcastle resident, Mack Strong will speak. Reagan Dunn will appear at the July 8th meeting. Keep an eye out for us at the Summer Concerts on July 15, 22, 29. We will be present and sponsoring on those days.

Candidates for King County Executive visit Newcastle
ExecVisitsThe next King County Executive will have visited Newcastle at least twice. The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum is scheduled for October 17th 2009 and will feature the Executive race, King County Sherriff race and 9th District King County Council seat. To help candidates learn more about Newcastle and help Newcastle learn more about them the Chamber is hosting "fireside chat" style briefings for each candidate. Chamber Chairman Nick Sooy, City Manager John Starbard and YMCA Eastside Executive Marcia Isenberger brief the candidates on the projects in and people of Newcastle. King County Council Members Larry Phillips and Dow Constantine enjoyed chocolates at Sweet Decadence before hour long conversations with community leaders and residents.
